14 OU football players, 2 staff members test positive for COVID-19, university officials say

Fourteen Oklahoma football players and two staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, OU Athletics Department officials announced Wednesday.Officials said seven of the 111 football players tested Monday were positive for the coronavirus. The other seven players tested positive before Monday.Two football players have recovered from COVID-19, and OU officials said there are 12 active cases.OU officials also said 72 football staff members were tested Monday. Two of them tested positive for the virus.Information about the players and staff members has not been released.The OU football team has returned to campus, and players started voluntary workouts Wednesday. The Sooners’ season is scheduled to kick off Sept. 5 against Missouri State in Norman.
