Tennis courts and skate parks re-opened in Abbotsford

Recreation centres and playgrounds remain closed

Abbotsford’s tennis, pickleball, basketball and skate parks are re-opening Tuesday, the city has announced.

Users of sports courts will have to maintain physical distancing – so actual basketball games are still off-limits – and playgrounds and recreation centres remain closed.

City Hall also remains closed. Mayor Henry Braun recently told The News that staff are looking at how other facilities might be re-opened.

“We must continue to follow the direction of our Provincial Medical Officer as we re-open various City amenities, starting with our sports courts on May 19th,” Braun said in a news release issued Tuesday. “We all still have a role to play in supporting each other and keeping safety at the front of our minds, and we ask our residents to be patient as we work through our re-opening plans.”
